Two die, one injured as speeding vehicle veers into bush in Ogun

Two persons reportedly died on Monday while one other sustained injury as a Toyota car popularly known as muscle veered into the bush as the driver was speeding.

The sad incident occurred at Idofe-Oru axis along Ijebu Ode-Ibadan highway.

According to the Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE,Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi the ill-fated vehicle bore number plate SMK 532HY, and was travelling outward Idofe at about 6.00am.

He said, “According to an eyewitness, the accident was caused as a result of high speed on the part of the driver. His effort to maintain his lane on noticing he’s approaching the bush was too late.”

Akinbiyi said as the driver who died in the accident tried unsuccessfully to control the vehicle, it veered into the bush hitting a tree in the process with devastating effect on the occupants of the car.

Meanwhile he said the corpses had been taken to ijebu Igbo to their families while the injured is receiving treatment at the General Hospital in the same town.

While TRACE and the police commiserated with the families of the deceased, they warned motorists against excessive speed and when visibility is very poor in view of its attendant consequences.
