The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni has dispelled the rumour concerning a criminal incident that happened at Magbon Etido, in Mowe area of the state, describing it as “an isolated criminal attack and not bandit operation” as reported by some media platforms.
He confirmed that the incident happened at a private dredging site.
In a statement made available on his behalf by the Command’s spokesman, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi on Tuesday, he said “a soldier on security duty lost his life during the incident, while another sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment.”
He added that preliminary findings do not indicate any connection between the incident and banditry activities.
Meanwhile he said “investigations and tactical operations remain ongoing” on the deadly incident.
CP Ojajuni assured residents that the situation is under control, as security presence has been reinforced, “and there is no cause for alarm.”
