Governor Dapo Abiodun

Any market found to be dirty in Ogun State during the Yuletide risk being shut down.

The Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun gave this threat in Abeokuta while monitoring the weekly market environmental exercise in the state capital.

The Commissioner called on market leaders across the state to ensure their markets were clean for healthy trading, saying the government would not fold its hands and watch buying and selling in untidy environment.

He added that with the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, cleanliness should be everyone’s watchword, urging traders and buyers to observe social distancing and wear face masks while in the markets.

Responding, the Babaloja of Panseke Market, Alhaji Taorid Amode commended the government for the weekly market sanitation and its attendant benefits.

Amode appealed to various traders across the state, to trade in clean, tidy and healthy environment before, during and after the festive period.
