The scene of the accident

The Public Relations Officer TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi told NOTM that the accident occurred at 6:49am, and it threw the sleepy community into mourning.

He said the articulated vehicle was headed to Ibadan from Ewekoro, where it loaded the bags of cement.

He described the incident as “sad and  unfortunate coming against the backdrop of two other reported crashes that happened back to back for the past three days across the state.”

He said all the victims were residents of the ill-fated building.

He said, “The occupants in the building are three male adults, one pregnant woman and two male minors.

“Those injured were four (three males and one male minor), those who died were one pregnant woman and one male minor.”

Akinbiyi added that the corpses had been deposited at Odeda General Hospital mogue, while the injured who were first rushed to Ajitola Hospital at Kila, were brought to the same facility for medical treatment.

He said there was deployment of policemen to the scene to calm the situation because the youth of the village were agitated over the sad incident.

While TRACE commiserates with the family of the deceased, it urged drivers of articulated vehicles  to avoid speeding and also ensure they maintain as well as service their vehicles as and when due to avoid these avoidable crashes.
