Three dead, two injured in Ogun multiple auto accident

Three persons lost their lives while two others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a multiple auto accident which occurred at Olowotedo axis along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday.

The accident, according to traffic report by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, occurred at about 4.07pm, and the three vehicles involved were travelling outside Lagos.

The Public Relations Officer, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the vehicles involved were a DAF Truck loaded with empty crates of alcoholic drinks with number plate AKD 361 XY, Toyota Sienna with number plate SHS 31 XH and Toyota Camry with no number plate.

He explained that according to eyewitness account, the driver of the Toyota Camry overtook the DAF truck in its front  wrongly, and in the process, the driver of the truck lost control and rammed into the Toyota Siennain its front, killing three of the five passengers in the vehicle, excluding the driver, on the spot..

However, he added that the Toyota Camry Car, which caused the crash, escaped.

He said the three corpses have been deposited at Idera morgue in Sagamu while the injured were taken to Famobis hospital in lotto for medical attention.

Meanwhile, Akinbiyi said the two other vehicles have been taken to Redemption Camp Police Station for further investigation on the unfortunate crash.

While the TRACE commiserates with the families  of the deceased, it warned drivers to avoid reckless and dangerous overtaking in view of its attendant consequences.
