Sallah: Two injured as presidential guards repel attack on advance convoy

Two persons were reportedly injured on Tuesday as gunmen attacked President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team on their way to Daura,Katsina State ahead of  Sallah celebration.

The shooting incident which was an ambush happened near Dutsinma, in Katsina State.

The President’s spokesman, Garba Shehu confirmed this in a statement but he added that gallant security operatives -military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy repelled the attackers.

The advance team were travelling ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari for Sallah at his hometown Daura.

The presidency described the attack as sad and unwelcome.

“The Presidency has described as sad and unwelcome, the shooting incident near Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the convoy of cars carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of the President, Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.

“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.

“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.”
