Police nab two suspects on way to robbery operation

Operatives of Ogun State Police command say they have arrested two robbery suspects on their way to robbery operation along Awa ijebu/ Ijebu Ode Expressway.

The suspects are Odukoya Ayomide (32) and Abiodun Oyenuga (32).

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the duo were accosted on the Expressway on Tuesday 25th of August 2020 when the Divisional Police Officer, Awa ijebu, Adewalehinmi Joseph, and his team were on routine patrol of the area.

He said the suspects who were rode on a motorcycle quickly jumped down on sighting the policemen and took to their heels.

He said they were hotly chased and one of them, Odukoya Ayomide, was apprehended, armed with a locally- made cut to size double- barrelled gun while the second suspect escaped through the nearby bush.

Oyeyemi, said during interrogation, Odukoya informed the police that his fleeing partner was the person who invited him from Ijebu Ode for a robbery operation at Awa Ijebu and that they were just going to carry out the operation when they were accosted by the police.

Oyeyemi added that the useful information obtained from the arrested suspect led the police to Shagamu where his fleeing accomplice, Abiodun Oyenuga, was arrested on Friday 28th August 2020.

Meanwhile, he said the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad for discreet investigation.

The CP warned those who are criminally-minded to leave the state “as the command will make it too hot for them under his watch.”
