Police nab man for defiling 5-year-old stepdaughter 


The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested a 39-year-old man, Oladapo Akinola for allegedly defiling his 5-year- old stepdaughter (namewithheld).

Crime report indicated that the suspect was nabbed on Monday 20th of September 2021 in Sokori area of Abeokuta.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a report lodged at Adigbe Divisional headquarters of the command by the mother of the victim.

He said the distraught mother had reported that while bathing her daughter, she discovered blood in her private part, and on enquiry from the girl, she was informed that her husband has unlawfully had carnal knowledge of her.

Acting on the complaint, he said the Divisional Police Officer, Adigbe Division,SP Fatoberu Oyekanmi quickly detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

Oyeyemi said during interrogation, the suspect, who resides at Adewale Drive, Sokori, Abeokuta confessed to the crime without any justifiable reason.

The state police spokesman added, “The victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment and report.”

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.

He warned parents, especially mothers to always be watchful of their female children in order to protect them from being victims of sexual assault from those irresponsible men.
