Just in: Court orders ex-CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele remanded in EFCC custody


Information reaching NOTM online indicated that the Ikeja High Court in Lagos State has on Monday ordered the remand of a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He.would be in remand till the next adjourned date, Thursday, April 11 when the court will give its ruling on bail.

Justice Rahman Oshodi equally ordered the remand of Emefiele’s co-defendant Henry Omoile at the Kirikiri Prison pending the court’s ruling on his bail on Thursday.

The remand of both men was ordered after Justice Rahman Oshodi listened to the bail applications filed by their counsel, Lebi Lawal.

Recall that the EFCC had recently slammed a fresh 26-count charge on Emefiele.

The latest charges he is facing include receiving bribes, accepting gifts via intermediaries, engaging in corrupt practices, obtaining property fraudulently, and providing improper benefits to his associates, as court documents indicated.
