The re-elected governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has said he will be giving the people of the state more dividends of democracy during his second term.

He contested on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party.

He said this in an interview with TVC on Sunday monitored by our correspondent.

The governor who is obviously still basking in his victory, said, “I am a firm believer that reward for hardwork is more work, we have worked really hard in the last four years, and we will continue.”

While he said he was overwhelmed by the love and support the Oyo people have shown to him, Governor Makinde said he came into power in 2019 without standing on the shoulder of any godfather, but rather “I have God the father and the people of Oyo State.”

Governor Makinde has extended a hand of fellowship to those in the opposition, calling on them to join hands with his administration.

He said, “They should join hands together with us to achieve the yearnings of our people.

“It would be a government of the people by the people and for the people.

“It is a new dawn in Oyo State, it is a new order, I stand for a united Nigeria, equity, fairness and inclusiveness.”

Makinde polled 563,756 votes to beat his close rival Teslim Folarin of All Progressives Congress who scored 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of Accord Party scored 38,357 votes.

The state Returning Officer, Olusola Kehinde, said, “That Makinde Oluseyi having satisfied the requirement of the law is declared winner of the poll.”

Makinde won 31 out of the 33 local government areas in the state, while Folarin came second by winning two local governments of Irepo and Ore-lope.
