Fleeing suspected car thieves from Lagos nabbed in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested two armed robbery suspects, Kenneth Akpa and Adebayo Michael while fleeing in a snatched Toyota Corolla car.

Crime report from the command indicated that the suspects had snatched the car from its owner at Ahoyaya Area of Lagos on 20th December 2021.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following an information received by policemen attached to Iperu Divisional headquarters that a suspected stolen Toyota Corolla 2008 model was sighted at a mechanic workshop along Ogere/Iperu Road where the suspected robbers were making effort to fix the car.

Acting on the information, he added that the Divisional Police Officer, Iperu quickly mobilised his men to the scene where the two suspects were arrested and the vehicle with number plate MUS 599 GV was recovered.

The state police spokesman explained that the owner of the car, one James John Ushahemba, a resident of Ahoyaya in Lagos was contacted and he came down to Iperu.

He said John in his statement, explained that he was attacked in his home on the 20th of December 2021 at about 1.30 am by two armed men.

Oyeyemi said further,  “He stated further that the robbers robbed him of his Toyota Corolla car, three different phones and cash sum of ₦30,000 at gunpoint.

“It was the vehicle that was sighted in Iperu through technical investigation.”

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has directed that preliminary investigation should be conducted while the case will be forwarded to Lagos State Police Command where the suspects will be charged to court.
