There was massive political activity across the four wards (A, B, C & D) in Kosofe Constituency I as stakeholders, party faithful, and supporters turned out in large numbers for the APC primary election held today.
From observations gathered across the wards, Hon. Aigoro received overwhelming support in Ward A & B, comprising Oworonshoki and Ifako, regarded as the most populous political bloc within the constituency.
Supporters openly demonstrated solidarity and excitement for his aspiration throughout the exercise.
The atmosphere across the areas visited reflected intense grassroots mobilisation, with residents and supporters seen chanting campaign songs and waving banners bearing the image and message of Hon. Aigoro, in what many described as a reflection of his growing acceptance and connection with the grassroots.
Meanwhile, the incumbent lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon (OKLA), and Hon. Adejoke Mariam Animawun got support in their own strongholds.
Discussions among party members within the ward suggested that the outcome was allegedly being influenced by a top official in Kosofe Local Government, who seemed to favour the return of the incumbent lawmaker.
As political activities intensified, security presence was visibly heightened in Ogudu, with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS) stationed within the ward.
Concerns were, however, raised over delays in the arrival of electoral officers to several wards. As of about 2:30 p.m., stakeholders and supporters at some polling locations were still awaiting the commencement of official processes, while there was also delay at the collation centre at Ogudu Primary School.
As at the time of filing this report, the electoral process at the wards are been disrupted following the late arrival of electoral officers, while returning officers are yet to return to the collation centre at Ogudu Primary School. The development has generated tension among party supporters and stakeholders gathered at the venue.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force at some point dispersed party supporters gathered around the collation centre, while DSS operatives left the center afterwards.
Despite the delays and heightened tension recorded, party members and supporters across the constituency remained optimistic about the future direction of leadership and representation within Kosofe Constituency I.
