Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur 2–1 at Stamford Bridge, sending the Premier League relegation battle down to the final day.
Tottenham knew a point would have been enough to almost guarantee their top-flight safety due to their superior goal difference over West Ham, but they were instead left needing a result on the final match-day to secure survival.
The visitors started brightly and almost struck first when Mathys Tel met Pedro Porro’s cross, only to see his header crash off the post with Robert Sánchez beaten.
Chelsea grew into the contest, with Cole Palmer forcing an early save from Antonín Kinský before Enzo Fernández broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, curling a superb strike from distance into the bottom corner.
The hosts nearly doubled their advantage before half-time, as Fernández rattled the crossbar from a free-kick, while Palmer wasted a clear opportunity in stoppage time.
Chelsea eventually extended their lead in the second half when Andrey Santos finished off a mistake from Randal Kolo Muani to put the Blues in control.
Tottenham responded quickly, with Richarlison pulling one back from close range after a clever assist from Pape Matar Sarr, setting up a tense finish.
Late pressure followed, but Spurs were denied by last-ditch defending and a missed James Maddison free-kick, leaving them with everything to play for on the final day.
