Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions with a game to spare after Manchester City were held to a 1–1 draw by AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
City travelled amid growing speculation over Pep Guardiola’s future and the possibility he could leave after a season in which they failed to retain the English top-flight title for the first time in his reign. They began brightly, with Jeremy Doku forcing an early save from Djordje Petrovic, while Antoine Semenyo had a goal ruled out for offside.
Despite that promising start, Bournemouth gradually grew into the game and missed a major warning sign when Evanilson squandered a clear chance. They eventually punished City just before the break, as Junior Kroupi latched onto a cutback from Adrien Truffert and curled a brilliant effort into the top corner.
After the restart, City pushed for an equaliser, with Nico O’Reilly denied following a surging Erling Haaland run. Bournemouth, however, continued to threaten, with Evanilson and Kroupi both going close, while Rayan struck the post and David Brooks also hit the woodwork after breaking through one-on-one.
Late drama saw Rodri also hit the post for City, while Haaland crashed an effort off the bar before turning in the rebound in stoppage time. But it was too late to change the outcome, as the draw confirmed Arsenal’s title win and sparked celebrations back in North London.
For Bournemouth, the result marks a historic milestone as they secure European qualification for the first time in their history, though uncertainty remains over which competition they will ultimately play in.
