…donates operational vehicles to Lagos police command
The Executive Secretary/CEO of Lagos State Security Trust Fund LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan has reeled out his achievements to mark 100 days since assumption of office at the helms of the funding agency, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
Ogunsan was appointed into the office by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday 31st October 2025.
He has also donated another set of operational vehicles to the Lagos Police Command.
In a press briefing with selected security editors which was held at the LSSTF HQ in Alausa Ikeja, Dr. Ogunsan noted that over the years, the Fund has played a strategic role in providing operational equipment, supporting infrastructure development, and facilitating capacity building for security agencies operating within the State.
This feat is done by mobilising resources from corporate organisations, public institutions, and well-meaning individuals to strengthen the security architecture of Lagos.
Reeling out the achievements, he disclosed that his immediate focus was on strengthening the financial base of the Fund through strategic fundraising and stakeholder engagement.
“We introduced new fundraising channels, including crowdfunding initiatives, while also intensifying engagement with private sector organisations, public institutions, and individuals who share our vision of a safer Lagos.”
“One of the major highlights of this period was the successful organisation of a high-level fundraising breakfast meeting, which brought together key public and private sector stakeholders.”
He said this engagement further reinforced the shared responsibility of security and strengthened confidence in the work of the Fund.
He added that LSSTF revived retail donation channels to encourage broader public participation in supporting security initiatives, by introducing a Monitoring Team to ensure proper tracking, accountability, and maintenance of assets provided for security agencies.
“We injected an additional 80 operational and patrol vehicles into the Lagos security space to strengthen rapid response and visibility and more is still on its way.’
“We secured a sole donor to build a permanent office complex for the Fund, which will further enhance coordination, efficiency, and service delivery. The construction of the building has commenced and it should be delivered by October this year.”
LSSTF hosted a highly productive Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, which provided an opportunity for open engagement between security agencies, government, and the public.
Deserving and dedicated security officers were recognised and honoured through awards, in appreciation of their sacrifice and commitment to keeping Lagos safe, at the Town Hall Meeting. These are among other engagements involving an impactful breakfast meeting involving Lagos public and private sector stakeholders hosted by Mr. Governor, which further strengthened the collaboration and support for security funding initiatives.
“We are also proud to report that we secured donations of vehicles from automobile manufacturers operating within Lagos. Furthermore, we extended our support to tertiary institutions across the State through the donation of security vehicles and equipment to improve campus safety.”
He has promised to renovate dilapidated police stations and provide support in terms of modern equipment to the Police Airwing among other enduring projects and programmes in the security sector in Lagos State.
In the same vein, the LSSTF has donated four new patrol vehicles to the Lagos Police Command dedicated for the ‘Anti-Crime Patrol’, further strengthening Lagos State’s security architecture and reinforcing round-the-clock patrol operations across key corridors of the state.
The vehicles were presented by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, in line with the commitment of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to continuously enhance security operations. The initiative is part of renewed efforts to expand operational capacity, improve mobility, and support police-led crime-prevention strategies.
During the presentation, Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed LSSTF’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Lagos State Police Command, expressing confidence that the new patrol vehicles will significantly boost operational efficiency.
He added that LSSTF will continue to mobilize private-sector support, strengthen inter-agency collaboration, and sustain investments that guarantee the safety and security of residents, businesses, and critical infrastructure across Lagos State.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Command, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, praised the LSSTF under the Executive Secretary, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan for its consistent interventions. He described the gesture as “an extremely great initiative” that aligns with the strategic vision of Governor Sanwo-Olu and the policing agenda of the Nigeria Police Force under Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
He noted that Eko Strike Force has become a critical component of Lagos’ security framework, providing efficient and effective patrol support while complementing the efforts of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
“The Eko Strike Force is not working in isolation but complementing the RRS to ensure round-the-clock patrol and safety of lives and property,” CP Jimoh said.
He further revealed that the four Anti-Crime Patrol vehicles donated by LSSTF mark the beginning of a new security initiative approved by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun and supported by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The new unit, Anti-Crime Patrol and Community Protection Team, will be headquartered in Maroko, with operational coverage spanning Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and the Lekki–Epe corridor.
According to the Lagos CP, the Governor, through LSSTF, has already pledged 10 vehicles to fully operationalize the new anti-crime team, ensuring 24-hour patrol and enhanced crime prevention across the high-traffic corridor.
