Three persons reportedly died while five others suffered varying degrees of injuries in auto crash involving four vehicles on Kara Bridge/World Oil Petrol Station axis, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday night at 7.25pm.
The vehicles involved were a Toyota car with number plate EPE 200 GK, Honda Civic, Mini truck with number plate T-1079 LA) and Scania truck with no visible number plate.
NOTM online gathered that the driver of the Scania truck did a wrongful overtaking which resulted in the multiple auto crash.
The vehicles were traveling outbound Lagos when the incident occurred.
The spokesman of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency TRACE,Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi said according to an eyewitness account wrongful overtaking on the part of the truck driver caused the accident.
He explained that the total number of occupants in the vehicles were nine made up of seven males and two females.
Akinbiyi said the victims who died were a male and two females.
He added that accidented vehicles had been removed to Ojodu Abiodun police station for further investigation.
Akinbiyi stated further that rescue operations were carried out by joint teams from TRACE, FRSC, Ogun State Fire Service, LASMA and Nigerian Army.
The TRACE management warned motorists to avoid wrongful overtaking at all times because of dire consequences.
