Twenty-hours after the pronouncement by President Bola Tinubu that ‘Fuel Subsidy is gone’, some of the independent filling station operators also have gone gaga with the increase in the pump price of a litre of the Premium Motor Spirit popularly known as petrol.

NOTM online reports that feelers coming in from Lagos, Ogun and Ondo states among others have it that some of the filling stations which are opened for business are selling a litre of petrol between N195 and N350 per litre.

However, the major marketers are said to have retained the normal price per litre of N195. They are contending with long queues of vehicles in their facilities.

Many of the filling stations also shut their gates against motorists.

In Lagos this morning, motorists woke up to see long queues at the filling stations, thus resulting in drop in number of vehicles on the road especially the commercial ones.

Some Lagos residents had it hard getting buses to their work place this morning, as few buses on the road jack up their fares.

The stories from Abuja, Oyo and Osun are not different, as queues have resurfaced.

In Ondo State, a colleague sent a pump head picture with adjusted price per litre.

In Abeokuta, Ogun State, some filling stations shut their gates, perhaps due to lack of the petroleum products or reasons best known to them.

Many of them located around Oke Ilewo, Abiola Way, Isale Igbein, Asero among others shut their gates.

However, major fuel dealers along Idiroko Road, Ota which were dispensing fuel  at normal price had long queues to contend with.

Also, the NNPC mega station along Abiola Way was dispensing fuel but the frontage was greeted with long queues. The station still sells at normal price.

News reaching NOTM online indicated that the Edo State Government has issued a statement warning filling station owners from hoarding fuel.

Anyone caught hoarding fuel in the state risks having his C of O being revoked.
