Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, on Monday morning.
As soon as the son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti, arrived he was handcuffed and seen being led into one of the buildings there.
His arrest was made known in a post shared by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on his Twitter page on Monday.
He wrote, “Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.
“He has been placed under arrest in line with the law. The Command appreciates the public for their concern and assures that the ongoing investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.”
Recall a viral video of the alleged assault of the policeman whose identity has yet to be unveiled has become an objects of concern to the police authorities.
The IGP over the weekend ordered the arrest of Seun Kuti. However Seun has said he was ready to cooperate with the police in their investigations, claiming that his life and that of his family was in danger at that point in time.
