Five persons lost their lives on Tuesday in Ogun State on Ijebu-Ode/Epe Express Road as a Mack truck whose driver was speeding lost control of the vehicle and rammed into oncoming truck killing the lone occupant in the vehicle.
The driver of the Mack truck and a lady with him in the truck also died while the truck crushed a commercial motorcycle rider popularly known as okada and his passenger in the multiple auto crash.
Traffic report from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, indicated that the Mack truck travelling from Epe to Ijebu Ode due to speeding ran across the median and rammed into oncoming low-bed Benz truck with number plate BWR 281 XC belonging to Julius Berger travelling from Ijebu Ode to Epe, and the commercial motorcycle.
The Public Relations Officer, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi who confirmed the incident to NOTM online said, “according to an eyewitness, the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of the driver of the Mack truck coming from Epe which crossed the median and hit the Julius Berger low-bed truck moving inbound Epe while at the same time crushed a commercial motocyle moving inbound Epe too.”
“Total number of occupants were five, and they all died, four male adults, one female adult.”
Akinbiyi added that the corpses had been deposited in the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode.
