Just in: Abducted policeman, two others regain freedom in Ogun

A police inspector and two other residents of Ogun State abducted on Wednesday 21st September 2022 by kidnappers have regained their freedom.

Crime report from the state Police Command indicated that the trio were kidnapped at Waasinmi along Abeokuta- Lagos road in Ewekoro Local Government area of the state by a group of kidnappers who were operating in military camouflage uniform.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the victims got their freedom on Thursday.

He explained that when the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole gotĀ  the information of the abduction, he directed the command’s Anti-kidnapping unit and other tactical squad to move into the area and join forces with Ewekoro divisional headquarters in rescuing the victims.

He added that given the intensive pressure and aggressive trailing of the kidnappers, they were left with no alternative other than releasing their captives.

Oyeyemi said the victims regained their freedom at about 9.45 pm on Thursday 22nd of September 2022 and have since reunited with their family members.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has directed that no stone should be left unturned in ensuring that the kidnappers were all arrested and brought to book.
