Operatives of the Ogun Police Command say they have arrested two suspects for allegedly stealing a Sallah ram belonging to one Sodiq Abolore.
Crime report from the command gave the name of the suspects, Adetunji Alagbe and Opeyemi Ogunlokun.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday 5th July, 2022
He explained that the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at Ogijo divisional headquarters by the owner of the ram (Sodiq Abolore).
He said Abolore reported that while he was sleeping in his house at about 3am on the fateful day, he heard an unusual noise in his compound which made him to peep through the window, only to discover that the iron gate he used to block the entrance where he kept his Sallah ram has been pulled down.
He said he(Abolore) added that when he came out, he discovered that his Sallah ram which he bought at the rate of #120,000 was no longer there.
Oyeyemi said he e stated further that when he searched around, he saw three men forcing his ram into a waiting Mazda car booth, which made him to raise the alarm, and distress call was made to the police.
The state police spokesman added that the three men were chased, and two among them were apprehended, while the other one escaped.
The ram was recovered, and the two suspects were taken to custody.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered an indepth investigation into the case, with the view of charging the suspects to court as soon as possible.
