Two persons were injured while two vehicles got burnt as fuel tanker exploded on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday after it had a collision with two buses.
The Ogun State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Ahmed Umar confirmed the incident to journalists in Abeokuta, stating that the incident occured at 2.05pm around the Mountain of Fire and Miracles prayer camp axis.
The FRSC boss explained that three vehicles were involved in the accident which comprised Toyota Camry with number plate AAA 251 HE, Toyota Corolla with number plate
LSD 828 GS and a tanker with no number plate.
He said the accident was caused by speed, brake failure and loss of control on the part of the tanker driver.
He explained that five male adults were involved in the accident with two persons injured, adding that no life was lost in the accident.
“A multiple crash involving a tanker and two other vehicles occurred around a worship centre on the outward section of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Thursday.
Umar said, “The rescue operation is still on to put the fire under control by Personnel of Ogun state Fire service . FRSC men are managing the traffic situation and assisted by other agencies,” he said.
“Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and remain calm until the resultant fire is extinguished.”
He said the FRSC operatives and other sister agencies were on ground to ensure orderliness.
