The TRACE Corps Commander/CE, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Cdr. Seni Ogunyemi has called on the generally public, particularly the motoring public, to celebrate Lovers’ Day, popularly known as Valentine’s Day with caution, restraint and vigilance, especially while driving.

He made this call on Sunday, stating that February 14, which is Valentine’s Day, is like every other day, warning that road users must adhere to all highway codes as well as traffic rules and regulations by not engaging in acts that could lead to auto crash, and expose other users to risk and danger.

Ogunyemi noted that during such celebration, the tendency to throw caution to the wind and exhibit overbearing attitude, particularly among the youths is rife, thus the need to be safety conscious, in view of the attendant consequences of such action.

He said they should eschew drunk driving, speeding, overloading and driving in a direction prohibited by traffic law (One way) amongst others, because according to him, “It is only those who are alive that will live to celebrate another Valentine’s Day.”

Ogunyemi who also highlighted that making or receiving calls while driving are also factors which constitute distractions, said TRACE operatives would be on the highways, both inter and intra, to apprehend offenders for such infractions.

While he wished everyone a crash-free celebration, Ogunyemi reiterated that his operatives would continue to perform their responsibilities in order to reduce carnage on Ogun traffic corridors.
