Three persons lost their lives while one other sustained injuries in a multiple auto crash involving four trucks along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday morning.
The trucks were said to be inbound Lagos when the accident occurred at Danco area along the busy highway.
Traffic reports from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, driver of a MAN diesel truck with number plate T8943 LA laden with a container was speeding which led the vehicle to overturn in the process.
The Public Relations Officer, TRACE, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi said this accident led to three other vehicles running into one another at the scene of the initial accident, as their drivers were equally speeding.
He said the accident occurred around 1.50am, recording three fatalities.
He listed other vehicles involved as HOWO truck with no identifiable number plate due to the impact of the crash, IVECO Flat Body loaded with cartons of beer with number plate SSU 517 XA and a SINO Truck loaded with granite with number plate T8953LA.
Akinbiyi said, “According to an eyewitness account, the MAN Diesel containerised truck overturned as a result of speeding and this led to multiple crash involving other trucks.
“All those involved were 9 males. Three of them die while one was injured and others escaped unhurt.”
He said the corpses of the victims had been deposited at Idera Hospital morgue, adding the trucks had been evacuated to the police station.
