.The governor’s at the meeting
The governor’s of Ogun and Oyo states on Wednesday held a meeting in Abeokuta and reached an agreement on how to tackle insecurity in the border areas.
Writing on the meeting on his Facebook page, the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde wrote:
“Securing the lives and properties of our residents is top priority for us as governors. And so today, we had the inaugural Ogun-Oyo Joint Security Meeting in Abeokuta, hosted by my brother, His Excellency Dapo Abiodun.
“We resolved to work collaboratively to address security issues in our states especially at the border communities. We also agreed to set up a high-level joint security committee and a joint border task force to implement a new security architecture to tackle crime.”
In recent time, kidnappers, ritualists and other criminals have been on the rampage, especially on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor.
The Ogun State Governor recently launched a joint security network, OP Mesa, which involve operatives from the army, police, navy and other paramilitary outfits to tackle the Yahoo boys and other shenanigans rearing their heads to undermine security in the state.
He, however announced that there is a backlash from the criminal elements as they are threatening his life. But Governor Abiodun said he remained unshaken by such threats.
