. The suspect …sober after the deed
Operatives of Ogun State Police Command say they arrested a 24- year- old man, Mojiyagbe Olamilekan, a resident of Oke Ola area of Ode Remo for allegedly stabbing his wife to death with scissors during a fight.
Crime report from the command indicated that the police in Ode Remo Divisional headquarters got a distress call at about 3pm of Wednesday 3rd of November 2021, that the suspect locked himself and his wife, Seun Mojiyagbe up in their room, and started beating the wife.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the distress callers who are neighbours of the couple stated that it was the wailing of the wife that attracted them, and they tried all efforts to persuade the suspect to open the door but he refused.
Acting on the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Ode Remo, CSP Olayemi Fagbohun, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene where the door to the couple’s apartment was forced opened.
Oyeyemi said the victim was met lying down unconscious in the pool of her own blood.
He added, “She was quickly rushed to the state hospital in Isara Remo where she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.”
He said further that the husband was promptly arrested and taken to custody, while the corpse of the victim has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta for further investigation with the view to charging him to court as soon as possible.
