Operatives of Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested one Shade Adelowo(31) for allegedly using razor blade to inflict serious injuries all over the body of one Kehinde ojo, over an allegation that the boy stole the sum of N3,000 from her purse.

Kehinde is 11-years old and a son of the suspect’s neighbour.

Crime report from the command indicated that she was arrested on Sunday 24th of October 2021.

The suspect, a mother of two who resides at Giwa Oke Aro area of Agbado, was arrested following a report lodged at Agbado Divisional headquarters of the command by the victim’s mother.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the victim’s mother had complained to the police that the suspect accused her son who used to stay with her whenever she is not around of having stolen the sum of N3,000 from her purse, consequent upon which she used razor blade to inflict serious injuries all over his body.

Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Agbado, CSP Kehinde Kuranga detailed detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.

Oyeyemi said during interrogation, the suspect claimed that the victim who used to stay with her whenever his mother was not around stole N3,000 from her purse, and that she didn’t know what came upon her that made her to inflict such grievous injuries on the boy.

He added, “She further claimed that she has been taking care of the boy and his twin brother for quiet sometime now, and that what happened on that fateful day is devil’s handiwork.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the mother of the victim has been abandoned by her husband who left her with three children and vanished into thin air.

“The woman has been engaging in menial job to take care of the three children, and whenever she is going out for work, she will take the children to the suspect who happened to be her neighbour.”

Oyeyemi said the victim’s mother stated further that it was a thing of surprise for her when she saw what the suspect did to her son, because she has been very good to her in the past.

He said the victim has, however, been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and he is responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
