Ogun police nab armed robbery suspect during operation

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested an armed robbery suspect, Bolanle Ojomu while carrying out robbery operation at Ilese Ijebu.

Crime report indicated that he was arrested on Friday 1st of October 2021.

The state Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested following a distress call received by the police in Ilese ijebu divisional headquarters at about 12.30 midnight that armed robbers were terrorizing residents of Silva Estate, Odomalasa area of Ilese ijebu.

Acting on the distress call, he said the Divisiona Police Officer, Ilese Ijebu,CSP Amuda Bolaji quickly mobilised patrol team and moved to the scene.

Oyeyemi added that when the hoodlums  sighted the policemen, they took to flight immediately, but they were hotly chased and the suspect was apprehended with the assistance of members of the community, while others escaped.

Recovered from the suspect, according to him  is one locally- made gun with one live cartridge.

Meanwhile, the acting state Commissioner of Police, DCP Abiodun Alamutu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State criyminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He also directed a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice.
