Three persons lost their lives on Monday as a Mack truck loaded with granite hit a commercial motorcyclist before it rammed into a building by the roadside at Imepe area, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, quoting eyewitness account said the truck driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.

He said the truck entered a building by the road side, killing a motorcycle rider, a woman and her daughter, standing in front of the building at that time.

Akinbiyi added that the ill-fated truck was coming from Ago-Iwoye quarry axis inbound Ijebu-Ode.

He added that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode,  while the accidented vehicle had been towed down to Obalende Police Station, Ijebu Ode.

Akinbiyi, however, said the driver of the truck and the motorboy, ran away to avoid being lynched by an angry mob.

While TRACE Corps commiserates with the families of the deceased, it urged truck drivers  to avoid speeding, reckless driving and ensure their vehicles are properly as well as adequately maintained, in view of its attendant consequences..
