A suspected robber had died due to injuries suffered in an auto crash and two other accomplices were injured while they were fleeing in a snatched vehicle, Toyota Camry.

Police report indicated that the car was snatched from its owner at gunpoint somewhere in Ondo State on Sunday.

The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects were on their way to Lagos, when nemesis caught up with them at Ode-Remo, as the sumersaulted leading to fatality for one of them.

Oyeyemi said, “The suspects were coming from Ondo State, heading towards Lagos, but on getting to a point at Ode-Remo, due to dangerous driving, the vehicle hit a culvert and sumersaulted.

“The three occupants, sustained varying degrees of injuries and they were rushed to hospital by the policemen from Ode- Remo Divisional headquarters.”

The state police spokesman said it was while the suspects were in the hospital, that the Divisional Police Officer, Ode-Remo, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi received an information that, the vehicle in question was snatched at gunpoint by the accident victims.

He said the DPO quickly ordered that they should be placed under arrest right in the hospital.

He added that the owner of the vehicle who came all the way from Ondo State, explained that, he was accosted on the road by a gang of five men dressed like policemen, and that he was dragged out of the car at gunpoint and the vehicle was taken away.

Oyeyemi said, “One of the suspects, identified as Emeka John later died while receiving treatment.

“The remaining two, namely: Sunday Emmanuel and Idris Ibrahim were ordered to be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, for onward transfer to Ondo State Command where they will be prosecuted.”
