Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested a 40-year-old man, Adesina Adebowale for allegedly breaking into the apartment of a 60-year-old woman (name withheld) and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
Police report indicated that the suspect was arrested on Sunday 20th of June 2021 at Idanyin area in Agbara.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the son of the victim had reported the matter at Idanyin Divisional headquarters, in company with his mother.
Oyeyemi explained that the son of the victim had told the police that on the fateful day the suspect at about 4p.m while his mother was in her apartment, the suspect broke into the apartment, and had sex with her forcefully.
He added that promptly the Divisional Police Officer, Idanyin Division, CSP Olayinka Kuye, detailed detectives to go after the suspect.
He said the detectives traced and apprehended him while the victim was quickly taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Oyeyemi added that the suspect has made confessional statement that he actually committed the crime.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
