Two female traders lost their lives while three others were injured in a road accident which occurred on Monday morning along Kobape-Abeokuta road.
This medium gathered that they were travelling in a Nissan Sentra taxi painted in Ogun State colour when the car ran into a stationary Mack truck along the Kobape -Abeokuta road.
The taxi bore the number plate LAR 53XB while the Mack truck bore EKY 763XF.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident occurred at Adedero village enroute Abeokuta.
He said eyewitnesses explained that the accident was due to reckless driving on the part of the taxi driver and hazy visibility along the axis.
The TRACE spokesman added that a sum of N230,620.00 was recovered from some of the victims who were fish sellers on their way to Abeokuta to purchase fish, “as one was with #153, 620.00 and the other #77, 000. 00.”
He said the money had been handed over to their family members.
Meanwhile the corpses of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, while the injured are receiving treatment in the same facility.
Akinbiyi further explained that drivers of the taxi and the truck and the vehicles had been transferred to Motor traffic division at the Ibara Police Station, Abeokuta.
