Two suspected robbers nabbed in Ogun while snatching motorcycle

The men of the Ogun State Police Command say they have arrested two armed robbery suspects on Sunday 2nd of May 2021 while snatching motorcycle from its owner.

The incident happened at Olambe area of Akute, in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The two suspects are Lukman Olanrewaju (27) and Shola Alabi (28).

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi explained that the suspects were arrested when the Divisional Police Officer, Ajuwon SP Andrew Akinseye got a distress call at about 5pm.

According to him, the distress call indicated that a three-man armed robbery gang were operating at Olambe area and that they had shot one commercial motorcyclist who was later identified as Anas Usman and snatched his motorcycle.

Acting on the call, the DPO led his men to the scene, and with collaboration of the state’s vigilance group, ‘So Safe Corps,’two amongst the robbers were subsequently arrested.

Oyeyemi said items recovered from the hoodlums were; one cut -to- size locally- made gun, two live cartridges and the snatched motorcycle.

He said the victim was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, “while effort is on top gear to apprehend the remaining member of the gang.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
