Suspected robbbers dispossess rice merchant of N120,000, handset in Ogun


Two suspected armed robbers who allegedly dispossessed a rice merchant, Nonso Nwibo, of cash sum of N120,000 at Ipamesan area of Sango-Ota have been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Sango-Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai that robbers have invaded the shop of the said Nonso.

He said they dispossessed him of N120,000 as well as his Techno handset at gun point.

Acting on the distress call, the DPO quickly led his men to the scene, but the state police spokesman said when the robbers sighted policemen, they took to their heels.

However, Oyeyemi said they were hotly chased and one of them by name Sadiq Hassan was arrested with a locally-made pistol while his accomplice escaped.

He said after diligent investigation, the second suspect by name Kudus Rasak was apprehended on the 19th of April 2021, in a hideout at Owode- Ijako, and a live cartridge was recovered from him.

Oyeyemi said the two suspects have confessed being the ones who robbed Nonso of his valuables.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Abeokuta for discreet investigation.
