Police in Ogun State say they have rescued three victims of a kidnap ring reportedly abducted along Siun/Ajura road in Ogere Remo Area of the state.
They, however, explained that the search for two Chinese abducted from their Poultry and Fishery farm in Oba community, Abeokuta by gunmen on Wednesday continues.
They were said to have been taken away on waterways.
Speaking on those rescued, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi gave their names as Alhaji Amusat Taofeek, Jibril Afolabi and Balikis Mohammed (female).
He added that they were coming from Ilorin, Kwara and headed to Owode Egbado when their vehicle was intercepted at about 3 am by gunmen who herded them into the bush while other passengers escaped.
Oyeyemi said the state Commissionerof police, Edward Ajogun directed the Area Commander for Sagamu to mobilise men from all the divisions within the area and go after the kidnappers.
He explained further that the command’s anti -kidnapping unit as well as SWAT, cordoned off the entire area and combed it thoroughly with the assistance of hunters, local vigilantes and men of So Safe Corps.
He said this pressure forced the criminals to abandon the victims and fled.
The state police spokesman said victims were rescued unhurt and without ransom paid.
He said the rescued victims had been escorted to their destination in Owode Egbado.
