An unnamed woman was killed on Monday morning at Obada Oko area of Abeokuta when a driver of a speeding truck lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into a house where the deceased had a shop.
Eye witnesses said the woman had just had her bath and was applying make-up in order to start her daily business when tragedy struck.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent said its operatives were told by eye witnesses that two truck drivers were racing at the Obada Oko stretch of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, when one of them lost control while avoiding an object.
While he said the deceased died instantly as the truck rammed into the shop, Akinbiyi added that the driver of the ill-fated truck fled the scene immediately, as angry mob wanted to lynch him and set the truck ablaze.
He said the quick Intervention by the operatives of the Nigerian Police from the Obada Oko Division and TRACE, the mob were prevented from setting the truck ablaze.
Akinbiyi said the family of the deceased had collected the corpse for burial.
While TRACE Corps commiserated with the family of the deceased, it warned truck drivers to avoid reckless and dangerous driving in view of its attendant consequences.
