All the seven lawmakers of the Allied People’s Movement in the Ogun State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress on Thursday have been advised to go and revalidate their membership of the APC at their different wards.

The state Publicity secretary of the APC caretaker committee, Mr Tunde Oladunjoye gave this advice in an exclusive interview with our correspondent.

He said their defection on the floor of the House was ceremonial, and the most crucial aspect was the re-registration and revalidation of their membership in the ongoing party revalidation and registration of members.

Those who defected from the APM to the APC are Modupe Mujota, Abeokuta North state Constituency, Musefiu Lamidi, Ado Odo/Ota ii Constituency, and Amosun Yusuf, Ewekoro state Constituency.

Others are Ajayi Bolanle, and Ganiyu Oyedeji representing Egbado South and Ifo ii state constituencies respectively and their Ipokia/Idiroko and Sagamu ii state Constituencies counterparts, Ajibola Sikiratu and Ademola Adeniran.

With the defection, the 26 membership House now boasts of 22 APC lawmakers, three members of African Democratic Congress, and one member from the People’s Democratic Party.

Oladunjoye said as a party, they considered it as a good development and APC was happy that these members were returning home, as they were not supposed to leave for the APM in the first place.

He said, “Our Caretaker Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, welcomes the former APM members and we see their bold action as a welcome development and long expected, especially since the APM’s gubernatorial candidate in the last election, Hon. Kunle Akinlade, announced his return to APC at a well reported press conference last year during which he declared his former party, APM, as dead in Ogun State.”

He noted that the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun had continued to operate an all-inclusive government, and Oladunjoye hoped that with time, all the other members of the House of Assembly still in other political parties would soon join the APC.

He said now that the defectors were back, they were in a familiar terrain and should work for the development of the party.
