Ogun State Government will be establishing an online newspaper, as it is being considered as the fastest means of giving out timely information to the people of the state and getting feedback.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile disclosed this on Monday during the 2021 budget defence at the House of Assembly, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
While he said his ministry had budgeted the sum of N600m as total expenditure in the 2021 budget proposal, he added that the ministry would purchase equipment and vehicles to enhance its performance.
Odusile said the capital expenditure amounted to N99,925,607.02, and overhead cost totalled N174,713,613.55 while personnel cost stood at N326,267,584.58.
He explained that N22,091,250.00 was expected to be generated in the fiscal year.
He said, “We want to ensure we give accurate information at the right time.
“Commencing online newspaper, people will get to know by -the -minute happenings in Ogun State.
”We will use this platform to reach out to people and when they have the right information, they will make right decisions.
“The Ministry is like a mirror that reflects the government to the people through news and also reflects people as well to the government through feedback mechanism.”
On his part, the Chairman, Finance and Appropriation Committee, Olakunle Sobunkanla, advised the ministry to work in synergy with the Chairman, House Committee on Information.
He said the Legislative arm of government would visit the Ministry to ensure funds appropriated and equipment bought were well managed.
