An early morning tanker explosion in Kara area outward Lagos on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway had claimed two lives while 35 vehicles parked along the corridor were razed by the ensuing inferno.
The driver of the tanker and the motor boy were said to have died as the diesel-laden tanker fell on its side and caught fire around 2am on Saturday.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi said the accident occurred close to World Oil filling station, which is about 200 metres from Berger Bus stop.
He guessed that the accident could either be due to speeding or the driver sleeping on the wheel.
While two persons died, according to him, one other person was injured, and he is currently receiving treatment at the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
The incident led to gridlock along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which made those motorists travelling outside to make use of the inward lane into Lagos.
Some others, however, are seeking alternative routes.
