Ogun holds monthly sanitation on Saturday

Governor Dapo Abiodun

Ogun State Government has said it will observe the monthly sanitation exercise on Saturday October 31, 2020, in order to continue to promotea clean, safe and healthy environment.

It will hold from 7am to 10am.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner  for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun , “there will be no restriction of movement in all the 20 Local Government Areas of the state due to the prevailing situation in the country.”

Residents are, however, urged to use the opportunity of this excerise, to clear their drainage channels and clean their premises/surrounding.

The residents are expected to maintain social distancing and drop the wastes at designated points for government accredited waste collectors to collect.

The Commissioner said anyone found dumping waste in inappropriate places such as gutters canals and water course will be prosecuted in accordance with the state’s Environmental Laws.

However, our correspondent noticed that there are some locations in the state that require constant sanitation, they include Sango-Ota market, especially the area towards the overhead bridge,  and Lafenwa market among others.
