Hardship and suffering being experienced by residents of Abeokuta through the gridlock caused by bad portions of the road at Brewery-Olomore axis, will soon become things of the past
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has said he has awarded a contract for the fixing of the bad road.
The governor said he was determined to improve road networks in the state, as he equally inspected other ongoing road construction works across the state.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin said approval was given for full construction of drainage channels at the Brewery-Olomore axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta to properly direct stormwater and the resurfacing of all the failed portions.
Governor noted that recent heavy rains in the state had put this section of the busy road in bad condition regularly causing gridlock, adding that “roadworks in these areas have been unfortunately delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions.”
He said he believed permanent solution would have been found to the perennial gridlock, as the contractor-in-charge is making appropriate preparations to move to site this week.
Governor Abiodun also inspected the Oba Erinwole Road in Sagamu, Kuto Flyover, Elite and Fajol-Osara-Gbonagun roads in Abeokuta.
He noted during the inspection that he was committed to opening up the state to socioeconomic activities and promote the welfare of the citizenry.
