The Ogun State Police Command has warmed that anyone or group that forment trouble before, during and after the celebration of Nigeria’s Diamond jubilee in the state will face the wrath of the law.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement said the command has activated all its operational units including tactical squads across the state to deal with trouble makers in the most decisive manner.

He added that the command would also be synergising with other security agencies in this regard.

He noted that the state government has indicated through a statement that this year’s independence celebration would be low key.

Oyeyemi added that mindful of the likelihood of some elements seizing the opportunity to foment trouble, the State government has among other measures directed that commercial vehicles and motorcycles be restricted from plying major roads in the state.

He said a curfew has also been imposed from 10pm to 6am starting from Friday 30th of September 2020.

Oyeyemi said while the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, felicitates with good people of Ogun State on the Diamond Jubilee of the nation, he equally advised them to be wary of criminal and disgruntled elements who might be bent on fomenting trouble before, during and after independence day celebration.

He said they should quickly inform security agencies of any strange movement or gathering within their areas.

He also appealed to parents and guardians to warn their children and wards not to be part of any activity capable of undermining the peace and tranquility presently being enjoyed by the good people of the state.
