The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, has cautioned drivers and other road users in Lagos State to obey traffic rules and drive with decorum.
He made the call when he visited the scene of a multiple road accident that occurred on Friday 18th September, 2020, by 2210 hours at Anthony, towards TREM Church at Gbagada, Lagos, in which one person was burnt beyond recognition.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the accident involved a towing van,one pale loader carrying a crane, one tanker truck loaded with diesel and another truck carrying a container.
The statement indicated that the four trucks got burnt, and caused heavy obstruction to traffic along the route.
He said it was confirmed that one person was burnt beyond recognition in the incident.
He said the CP personally supervised the evacuation and clearing of the obstruction, carried out by police personnel and staff of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, between 11pm of Friday and 4am of Saturday, 19th September, 2020.
Adejobi said the Commisioner of Police sympathised with those involved in the accident.
Adejobi added that Odumosu emphasised his readiness to work with other traffic management agencies in Lagos to curb reckless driving and reduce road crashes/accidents to their barest minimum, particularly, as ’ember’ months are here.
