The operatives of the Ogun State Police command say they have arrested an Arabic and Islamic teacher, Ismaila Saheed (38) and one Toliha Sabith (20) for allegedly defiling a 15-year- old girl (name withheld).
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the duo were apprehended after the victim made a formal report of their act at Redemption Camp Police Station that Toliha Sabith forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The incident happened on Tuesday 25th of August, 2020 at Imedu-nla area of Mowe.
Oyeyemi said the victim later went to her Arabic and Islamic teacher and reported Sabith’s unwholesome act.
The Ogun police spokesman added, “Having listened to her ordeal, the Arabic teacher, Ismaila Saheed told her that she might have get pregnant as a result of the incident and he offered to help her remove the said pregnancy.
“But surprisingly, instead of removing the imaginary pregnancy, he took the advantage to also had carnal knowledge of her, after which he inserted a sharp object into her private part, causing her a serious vaginal injury.”
Oyeyemi said acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Redemption Camp division, Bala Yakubu detailed his detectives to go after the two suspects and they were both apprehended on Friday 28th of August, 2020.
He said the suspects had confessed to the commission of the crime, while the victim is currently being admitted in an hospital for proper medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has directed that the two suspects “who he described as animals in human skin” be transferred to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and deligent prosecution.
The CP appealed to parents to always be concerned about the well-being of their children, especially the females so as not to make them an easy prey for those predators in human skin.
