Police nab five suspected robbers in Ogun

The men of the Ogun State Police command say they have arrested five suspected robbers

while trying to dispossess a motorcyclist of his motorcycle.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspects were apprehended on Monday 24th August 2020.

The suspects, according to him were Yusuf Ogundimu (23), Moses Anthony (23), Moruf Olafimihan (24), Toheeb Shola (22) and Adeyemi Afeez (27).

He said they were arrested following an information received by the police at Sango Division of the command that the syndicate who specialised in snatching motorcycles within Ijoko, Sango, Ifo and Agbado area were operating at Odo Alamo area of Ijoko Ota.

When he the Divisional Police Officer, Sango, Godwin Idehai, got the information, Oyeyemi said he quickly led his anti -robbery team to the scene.

He added that but when the suspects sighted the policemen, they realised that the game was over, they took to their heels but were hotly chased consequent upon which five of them were apprehended.

Oyeyemi said investigation revealed that the gang who are eight in number were all residents of Onipetesi area of Ijoko.

He said items recovered from them are: one locally -made cut to size gun, 10 live cartridges and one Bajaj motorcycle with number plate EDO 23 QL.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery robbery Squad for discreet investigation.

Oyeyemi said the CP also ordered that the remaining members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice .

The CP therefore appealed to members of the public to always cooperate with the police so as to rid the state of criminal elements.
