The State Government of Osun has congratulated its citizens on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the state’s creation.
The state was among the nine states created in 1991 by the administration of General Ibrahim Babangida.
Its first Military administrator was Major Gen. Leo Ajiborisha. His first project in office was the establishment of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation.
The government noted that the state had experienced steady growth since 1991, and urged citizens to remain steadfast in supporting good governance.
In a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, the government commended the citizens for being people of peace and understanding.
She added that these values had contributed to the achievements that have accrued to the state over the years.
The statement read in part: “The State Government of Osun, on this important occasion of the State’s anniversary, appreciates its citizens at home and abroad for their contributions to the development of the State since its creation.
“The government most especially acknowledges the consistent alertness of its citizens in ensuring ang guiding good governance in the 29 years existence of the state.
“Osun has been able to protect its values and remain one of the most peaceful and investment-friendly states in spite of challenges through the years.
“We are a hardworking, steadfast people, proud of our heritage and unfazed by the odds we have had to wade through since the state was created. Let us continue to work together to protect our values and our state.”
