Ogunsola emerges UNILAG acting VC


The University of Lagos Senate has elected a Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as the institution’s acting vice chancellor.

It had earlier  on Monday nominated Prof. Ben Oghojafor, who is also a deputy vice chancellor and Ogunsola for the position.

They two deputy vice- chancellors were nominated at the Senate meeting attended by about 167 professors, who voted for either of the two candidates.

At the end of the counting of the votes, Ogunsola emerged the winner.

Recall the Visitor to the institution, President Muhammadu Buhari had last week directed the varsity’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Wale Babalakin, SAN, and the embattled Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President.

As one of the terms of reference, the President had also asked UNILAG Senate to reconvene to appoint an acting VC.
