Members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria working in government agencies today commenced a three-day warning strike over non-payment of their three months salaries.
The Public Relations Officer, PENGASSAN, Mr Fortune Obi, in a terse statement sent to our correspondent, said these workers have not been paid for three months due to the inclusion of the payroll into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.
The government agencies involved, according to him are; Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Authority, Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority,Petroleum Training Institute and the Department of Petroleum Resources.
Obi said in the statement, “PENGASSAN members working for Government agencies under the supervision of the Ministry of Petroleum are embarking on a three-day warning strike starting from from today.”
“This is due to lack of payment for the past three months plus due to the inclusion into the IPPIS.”
He said, the protest kicked off in Abuja on Wednesday morning which saw members, armed with placards with different inscriptions, protesting in front of the offices of all the regulatory agencies.
